Holiday Magic

I may not have any presents wrapped yet, but I made cookies today. The most delicious crispy, chewy  gingersnap cookies from In Jennie's Kitchen. I've had a thing for gingerbread all holiday season so I'm glad I finally had a chance to make these.

image

They were delicious. Next on the list I want to make these and gingerbread coffeecake once my copy of simple scratch cooking arrives this week.

More freezer jam. We'll see how this one tastes tomorrow.

Baking and catching up on sleep has been how I've spent my first few days of holiday vacation so far. The next few days will be spent enjoying the holiday magic with family. I've loved seeing how our sweet little Magpie is experiencing the holidays this year.

She already knows the tree is just for looking :)

image

And loves reading with her big cousin.

image

That smile melts my heart every time.

We also have an extra family member visiting this week. Bailey and Puddy don't seem to mind sharing the couch with my mom's sweet dog, Maddie.

Baking, sleeping, relaxing, family, and .......knitting (and writing about knitting, as in those patterns). That's my plan this vacation. Speaking of which....

I certainly haven't gotten very far on the tween's Sorin Fingerless Glove. One is almost done at least. I'm looking forward to getting some knitting done tomorrow.

Oh, Cheekyattitude and I have a present for one lucky reader that doesn't need wrapping. Contest time!!

Time lovely skein of Plucky Knitter Primo Sport would be lovely for a pair of Sorin Fingerless Gloves, but it could be anything you want it to be! Just leave a comment on this post with what you have planned for the week ahead....will you be baking, relaxing, knitting, entertaining family? Anything special? Have you wrapped all of your presents? Are all of your holiday gifts knit? Will you be casting on something special for you soon? Be sure to leave a way to reach you if you win (e.g., ravelry ID or email).

Oh, and our relatively new family tradition the past few years...tomorrow night we are seeing the Nutcracker. I can't wait.

Happy Holidays!

I love this pattern and just bought it yesterday in hopes of casting on this week. My mom arrived yesterday for Christmas and my sister arrives on Wednesday. A little more baking and maybe a quick errand or two and I'm set!

Well, that pattern just fell into my queue and into my Buy It Now basket. Oops.

This week...well, Husband took Little Man to work today so I've wrapped presents and done some laundry this morning. I've got more laundry to go and a trip to the grocery store. I also plan to clean in the bathrooms. Nothing fun and exciting, though.

I'm working until Wednesday at 3. Hosting Christmas on Thursday for the family and then it's an open calendar until the 5th! So looking forward to that!

The design is beautiful. :) I will be seeing the light show with my hubby, kids, and dad, bringing along hot chocolate and Christmas goodies, and then the big Christmas dinner at my house. :) Thanks for the chance to win!

I'll be spending the next week travelling and visiting with family. I'm especially looking forward to spending time with my nephew who is just 7 months old. Knit gifts for everyone but none are wrapped... I still have a few days to squeeze that in!

Those mitts have such lovely texture, with the cables and the seed stitch!

My big holiday plans have to do with music, since I sing in my church choir. Yesterday afternoon was our Lessons and Carols service, and we'll be singing for the late Christmas Eve service on Wednesday night. The church is full of greenery and lit up with candles, and we sing carols for half an hour before the regular service even begins.

Wishing you a very happy holiday with your family!

My children and families will be here on Christmas Day! The presents are wrapped and hidden away. Stocking stuffers too. I am baking cinnamon rolls tomorrow. Otherwise, all ready. Thanks for a chance to win the pretty yarn.

All my holiday knitting is done, the wrapping is nearly complete. Christmas at home with my hubby and two girls, relaxing and playing and if it doesn't rain a walk round Frensham Little Pond. Hope you have a great Christmas.

Oh, the dogs look so cozy and happy! I still have one mitten to finish for my husband and other gifts to wrap. But the tree is lit, the baking is done and the sun is shining outside. So all's good in the world.

I'm almost ready for Christmas! I just need to finish a slipper for my son's girlfriend and the gift knitting is done :-) We're hosting dinner Christmas Day and then having our annual Yankee Swap with my siblings on Sunday. I'm hoping to get lots of rest and start a new sweater for myself during vacation. Treatment 2 weeks ago kicked my butt and I'm still trying to fully recover before I go again on Monday :-(

Merry Christmas my friend, May it be joyous and pain free!
