Lookie!!

Do you recognize those sleeves?

Look! Its chemgrrl!

Need a hint.

Chemgrrl and I had a fabulous morning today! We grabbed breakfast, did some yarn shopping (wait, if one goes to two yarns and doesn't buy ANY yarn, does that count as yarn shopping?! seriously, one pattern for $5...nothing else...not fabric, not books...something is horribly wrong), and had a great time! Can you believe she bought the one color of Hazel Knits yarn at Bobbins Nest that I would have bought had I not been trying to recover from my September fun? And of course I had to take her to my favorite LYS, Purlescence Yarns, so that she could buy some crack...I mean...STR. I had a fabulous time! Thanks Leigh!!

Now I'm up in Reno visiting my great-aunt. That should mean some relaxing and knitting is in store this weekend! And don't be too proud of me yet for resisting the yarn fumes today. Woolgirl's recent blog post sounds quite tempting....

Happy Weekend!

Hi. My name is Irishgirlie...

...and its been three weeks since my last yarn purchase.

Hey now. No laughing. That's quite an accomplishment around these here parts! I think it certainly helps that I have not been to the state of Oregon in the past three weeks :)

I think it also helps that yarn and fun stuff keeps arriving in my mailbox (e.g., go check out Tapmouse's pictures of the awesome Woolgirl sock club kit that arrived in my mailbox today).

IMG_6304

This arrived earlier this week for me! Goodies from Ireland!! Perfect for an Irishgirlie!! Yvonne from Lunasa Knits was my secret pal last year and we decided to do a swap. I can't wait for her to get her goodies too! I absolutely love all mine!!

IMG_6303

Best part...the gorgeous sock yarn that Yvonne handdyed herself for me! Strawberry Royale! The perfectly pink color. Yvonne dyed a bunch for This is Knit, a yarn store in Dublin (oh, someday!).

IMG_6301

Thank you Yvonne!! Did anyone notice the hobnobs in the back have already been nibbled on...one nibble and your nobbled!!! Love me some hobnobs!

Now back to that yarn diet thing.... are there any exceptions for when one of your knitty friends comes to town and your take her yarn shopping?

Happy Friday!

YPF: The Hooray for Fall Edition

Woolgirl Fall Kit

Look what showed up in my mailbox this week! The Fall Charlie Brown kit from Woolgirl!

Miss Babs

I heart fall! I heart Miss Babs Yummy fingering yarn (remember these socks?!)

Miss Babs

And yet, when this fabulous package arrived, I looked at the Woolgirl box and wondered, "What is this? I didn't order more yarn?" You know its bad when yarn just shows up at your door and you forgot you bought it....uh-oh. Plus, I wanted to cast on right away, but then realized I have a few too many socks on the needles and I haven't even started Christmas knitting...uh-oh. It was the perfect reminder to keep up the yarn diet!! I'm aiming for two months at least! That would lead me right up to the Purlescence after-Thanksgiving sale! We'll see how I do!

Happy Friday!!

What a week....

I guess I thought things would slow down a bit now that its October. Who was I kidding? I can't believe its been a week since I've blogged, but then again, I guess I can. I'm writing this late Saturday night, a bit exhausted, but I think that's due to the cold I've been fighting since Thursday. Well, it could also be that this week has been crazy!

I was in Sacramento Friday for work, so I spent Thursday night in Sac at my best friend's house with her three fabulous kiddos! I couldn't resist posting this picture....those kiddos melt their Auntie Irishgirlie's heart!

IMG_6184

yummy cupcake!

After work on Friday, I stopped by my brother's to visit Lil' Guy and help his mommy finish up a knitting project!

Beep! Beep!

Is he not the happiest boy ever??

So I drove back to the Bay Area Friday night, spent the night at my dad's, where I got lots of sleep and orange juice, and watched the Notre Dame football game today (sad, sad game...we lost).

Hmmm....all these kiddos..could that be why I'm exhausted :) But there has been knitting this week! Maybe not the most productive. Maybe ADHD knitting, but at least its knitting!!

Too many!
Embossed Leaves in the new MadelineTosh colorway Violin, Hedera in Mama Blue Troika colorway Bramble, and Monkeys in STR Rare Gems
Let's hope this next week slows down a bit (I doubt it, with Jury duty coming up on Tuesday, back in Sacramento for work on Wednesday, and maybe a trip to Reno next weekend, but a girl can hope, can't she?!)
Happy Weekend!!

Guess what I'm doing today?

Same thing I did yesterday, except today its just Auntie Irishgirlie on her own. I take that back, Auntie Rowan is taking lil' guy for a walk right now, but then she's leaving me. Our brother is living the high life at a 49er game today (our SIL is on a business trip).

IMG_6157

So the story goes, when I was lil' guy's age, I had the same toy and as my older brother sat quietly watching tv, I took the toy and bonked him over the head with it!

IMG_6160

The doggies are obviously having a great weekend too!

IMG_6153

"Who me? Sit?!"

Happy Weekend!! And hey, the Irish are 4-1!!!

A Cold Winter's Night

IMG_6136

I tried so very hard to resist the call of the Monkeys. So many socks on my needles already.

acoldwinter'snight

I have a hard enough time when looking at Neuroknitter's pictures of hers. So imagine my weakness when I'm with her in person, yarn shopping no less, and she even lets me borrow her needles, encouraging me to cast on. I wound the yarn by hand last Friday night and finished them while I was waiting for my sister to pick me up from the airport Monday night. I so love this pattern! I'm ready to cast on another!

IMG_6140

Pattern: Monkey

Yarn: Dashing Dachs, Dach Sox: Sport Superwash Merino from Woolgirl colorway Rufus (but it reminded us of A Cold Winter's Night)

This was my first time trying this yarn and I loved it! I especially loved all the different changes in color, so rich. And they are even softer now that they have been soaked :)

Happy Socktoberfest!!!!
