Contest Time!

Best way to beat away the Monday blahs, well, other than counting down the number of sleeps until Stitches East, would be a contest, right?!

I've been meaning to give away a skein of Sock-a-licious and my Bellingrath Pattern for awhile now!

IMAG0146

Kollage also donated a set of square DPNs and a clear project bag too!

The contest is easy....just leave a comment :) And if you having any thoughts on the following, that would be great too (you guys always have the best info/recommendations!)...
*favorite new-to-you blog of any kind
*favorite app for an Android phone (I've had the Sprint HTC EVO for a few months now and feel like I still don't know much about all the "extras")
*the "it" knitting pattern for the holidays or what you want to knit now!
*any other favorite you want to share

I'll announce a winner at the end of the week. In the meantime, don't forget about my pattern sale. Receive 20% off any of my individually sold patterns by using the coupon code stitcheseast from now until Nov.1.

And check back soon for the new patterns being released! It is going to be a great week here, I can feel it!

Happy Knitting!
xoxo Irishgirlieknits

Oooohhhh, am I the first comment?! My new favorite blog is my friend, Allison's blog: http://alliholtkamp.blogspot.com/. We live in the same town, have the same name and share the same love of all things yarn!

After a few years of knitting with semi-solids, my new favorite yarn is STR. It makes me feel wild about my sock knitting. Trust me, I have been "eyeing" your destash.

My new favorite blog is called Style Underdog, it is a style blog with the sassiest author.
P.S. Its my birthday today, and I am on a yarn diet.

I can't answer any of the questions since I follow the crowd on which blogs to read and haven't seen any new ones that I can recommend. However, that yarn (new to me) and the pattern (favoured on Rav) mean that I'm going to send some friends a link to your blog.

My new "must knit" is jared flood's Celes.

Hmm, the pattern I've seen the most talk about lately is Whippoorwill. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/whippoorwill

It's in quite a few queues and I've already bought it for after holiday knitting. Although, I guess if you're adventurous or quick you could knit it for the holidays!!! :)

I hope to see you at Stitches! If my calender stays as it is now, I may be able to come to the market for part of the day Friday :-) Anyhow, my favorite app for my droid is Mancala. I play it all the time while I'm sitting waiting somewhere. And I think I'm going to be knitting a few of these http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/a-noble-cowl for gifts this year.

Personally, I find blogs all the time but I can't remember the last "new" blog I discovered, besides Brooklyn Tweed...which, in my defense, I had heard about, just not linked to.

But, as far as things I want to make NOW go...I have a bug in my pants to make another sweater. I don't know why. Nesting? Winter weather? No idea...

Wow- yum- I have an iPhone so can't help you there- I just started to crochet and found Attic 24 very pretty. also I am making a ton of coffee cozies this christmas as little package toppers etc.

Thanks for having a giveaway! The pattern I am dying to knit right now is the Dark & Stormy cardigan - just got my yarn in the mail but I have several things to finish before I cast on. And I hope you get some good comments on Android apps - I got an Incredible a few weeks ago and I still don't know much about it!

liz said...

Thank you for this opportunity! I've been wanting to make your Bellingrath for the holidays. My favorite "new" blog is redheadwriting.com. Erika is NOT for the faint-of-heart, but definitely tells it like it is. Enjoy!

I'm a pretty basic girl, but my next knit is a sleeved wrap from Simple Style. It will give me a chance to learn how to knit cables.

And that yarn is pretty!

Android Apps:

Astrid Tasks- Best checklist app ever!!! It not only lets you prioritize, but you can set reminders, have it link to your Google calender and more (it's been a life saver)

Pandora- For those times you don't have your ipod and just want some tunes.

TallyBee- Pretty simple app that replaces the standard row counter when knitting/crocheting.

Handcent SMS- Replaces the existing messaging app. Allows you to personalize each contact, and my fav... it will notify you of texts while you're on the phone!! For some reason Android left that capability out of their standard settings.

My favorite app is foursquare. I love winning the badges.

Hoping to meet you at Stitches and get you to sign my favorite sock pattern- Slip Jig! I've got a serious sweater-knitting thing going on right now, and am just aching to get started on something for NaKniSweMo. Can't decide what though!

JoannaCos said...

My favorite new pattern is the Winthrop cardi from Kelbourne Woolens. It's a simple knit but has really pretty slipped stitch details around the cuffs and yoke. I can't believe more folks aren't knitting it! I'm a slow cardi knitter but I'm shooting to finish mine before Thanksgiving.

Yours is my new favourite blog, I just found you via a 'recommend a knitting blog' post on Ravelry:)

Oooh! Enter me! I don't know what the "it" pattern is, but I can tell you what my fingers have been itching to knit- those little penguins and polar bears from the new Webs cover, and the Back to School U-Neck Vest from Fitted Knits.

Hmmm...Got an error message with my first attempt. Excuse the second post if the first one show up. I have been eyeing all the Nutkins on ravelry's socktoberfest group. I think my mom would love a pair for the holiday.

Who doesn't love a contest that includes free yarn?

I'm making yarn harlot's one row scarf, it's so quick and easy. Loving it for tv knitting and it's knitting up quick enough that I should have plenty of time to make one more before Christmas for gifts. (I'm a wicked slow knitter)

Amy said...

Thanks for this contest. I am looking forward to making a bunch of French Press Knits slippers for Christmas gifts this year.

A new to me blog would be Tanis Fiber Arts. Her yarns are amazing. Her blog is enjoyable. I don't have the cool App Phone, so unfortunately no help there. I do enjoy Scrabble on my Ipad though. and my Kindle app. I am currently working on a Mara Shawl, and when I finish I have lots of socks I want to make. Maybe a lacy baktus. And another shawl called Fog Lifter. I am sort of on knitting overload. My fingers can't keep up with my brain on what I want to knit.

I've been adding new blogs so quickly right now that it's hard to pick a favorite.

I'm loving the laceweight cardigans, but I have knitter's ADD right now and can't seem to finish anything but hats.

I have roughly four sweaters-for-me that are on my MUST KNIT NOW list (I started this autumn with one & haven't knit any yet just so you know how pathetic my output is). My most recent addition to the list is Kate Davies "Deco." Though at least with that one I can say that I'm waiting for the pattern!

Happy Stitches East to you. Enjoy.

ANYway, I haven't been around because I'm deep in the throws of thesis-writing, and I should be done soon. Waiting for me at the end is a gorgeous pile of Manos silky blend and Hannah Fettig's latest sweater pattern, the Effortless Cardigan. It will be a lovely treat for me, I think.

I wish I knew the name, but last week I happened upon a friend with an app for analyzing thread! She could figure the amount of twist, and then we could closely estimate the thread weight (right word?) The thread band said it was a superfine alpaca in a sport weight but we found it to be more DK. And I could drop down in needle size and have enough for socks. I want the app. And, if I win, I will get the name of the app for you!:^)

Newest blog I've been reading? That would have to be Lilith Saintcrow's site. Most of her posts have to do with the daily nuts and bolts of being a consistent writer and her experiences as a published author.

As for the cell phone apps? I'm still in the stone age with mine (I can text!) but at least I can contact folks while away from home.

Pattern-wise, I'm still working my way through a pair of Uncle Frank socks. Two more cable repeats and I'll be to the heel turn!

Jocelyn said...

The Pioneer Woman's blog is something new to me. I must have read back over months of old posts and it is just awesome. I think if Ree was a knitter - she'd be kick-ass at it. Check out her recipe for cinnamon rolls - I must try that in this lifetime.

My new favorite yarn still is String Theory Colorworks Continuum self striping yarn -- nice thick stripes AND she does custom orders :)

Hello, I'm still relatively new to knitting. I discovered your blog from a friend and I must say how much I LOVE your blog! I am currently knitting a free pattern I picked up at (gulp) Hobby Lobby and I actually managed to finish ONE of the fingerless glove but am having the MOST difficult time finishing the second one. The way they did the right hand is different from the way they are doing the left hand. Anyhow, i've ripped it out a dozen times already but I am determined to figure it out and finish it! If I won your pattern and the yarn, it would be a nice project to look forward to making next! ;-)
