May??

How did it get to be May already?  Seriously.

Best thing about May is that it is a new month, one not filled with crutches!  It has been three weeks now without crutches and I've been swimming and doing PT as much as I can to try to get my range of motion back.  Slowly, but surely.  I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  Yay!!

But the swimming and PT is still pretty exhausting and has been cramping my knitting style.  Each day it gets a bit easier though, so hopefully by the time summer rolls around I can get back to cranking out a few projects at a time.

I did finish the sock design on my needles.  This weekend will involve pattern writing and getting things ready for test knitters.  The sock and baby sweater will go out to test knitters next week I hope :)

I think I've been in denial about it being May because....
  • it means less than 2 months until my sister gets married
  • My sister-in-law and I will be throwing one heck of a bridal shower tea party next weekend for my sister!  Good news is that I have been indulging in all of the tea taste-testing and I've done a great job of almost kicking my diet coke habit.  Wait for it....I'm down to 1, maybe 2 diet cokes a day, and a few weeks ago I went an entire 5 days without it!  Woohoo!
  • I have to find a cute outfit for the shower.   Did that tonight after work!  Thank you Nordstrom.  And I even got a cute little hat to wear....well, it is more of a posh little flower thing.
  • The day after the tea party I head to New Orleans for 3 busy days of work.  Wish I was staying longer, but I know I will be eating the best food for a few days!
  • At the end of the month, we'll be heading to LA for another family wedding and hopefully a day at Disneyland!
  • it is one of the busiest months for my day job.....end of the school year, lots of IEPs, fun fun.
But May kicks off with some fun starting tomorrow.....
  • My sister's bacherlorette/his bacherlor party will be tomorrow!  About 30 of us will be in a dugout on the first base line of the Giants game!  Tailgate starts at 9:30!  I can't wait! I've got the veil for the bride-to-be (really for just a few photo ops), brownies came out of the oven about an hour ago, and the mexican roll-ups are chilling in the fridge.
Kate's getting married!

Here's one of their engagement pictures.  Doesn't she look beautiful?!!

What do you guys have on your agenda for May?  Anything fun?

Happy Weekend! Go Giants!

Something I never looked forward to were all the IEP meetings at the end of the year. I mean, I understand why they need to be done...and it's not like you have just one kid that has an IEP. And then there are the parents that don't show up for meetings, even after six reminders (e-mail, notes home, phone calls, etc.) and say, "oh, I didn't know it was yesterday."

Don't even get me started on all of that!

As for knitting, well.......my Honey Badger socks are at a standstill until I figure out if they're going to fit or not. Part of me really doesn't want to put those socks on dental floss to try them on because then we have the reality of whether they'll fit. I don't know if my psyche can handle frogging another sock-in-progress (SIP).

Maybe I'll wait.

Congrats to your sister and to you for no crutches / less diet coke! I used to drink a ton of diet coke but switched to seltzer and that helped kick the habit. Now I don't even drink the seltzer anymore (all that carbonation is bad for teeth!) but it helped at the time.

Knitting-wise I'm working on getting a couple of sock designs going. I also have about 5 different Bugga shawls/scarves that I really need to finish at some point...

I love that picture of your sister! So cute!

So for May, the first thing is that DS3 got his license yesterday! That means that he can drive himself to and from school, which means that I've just freed up about 2.5 hours a day that I've been spending in the car :-)

I'm also going to a bridal shower next weekend for my nephew's very lovely bride-to-be. It's so fun that "the kids" are all entering this phase of their lives, but it does map me feel old!

On the knitting front it's time for some spring cleaning, so aside from a little secret knitting, I'm hoping to clear up a few older projects.

Carrie it sounds like you'll be pretty busy over the next month! Best of luck with all of the planning and running around. The picture of your sister and her fiance is perfect!

Well it sounds like you have quite the busy month! Beautiful picture of your sister & fiancé. Glad to hear you are still crutch less and doing better. :)

Started May with sons graduation (we're in Maine right now) and ending it with daughters graduation!

Knitting my 3rd pair of Cotty's waiting for a visit from my favorite Uncle now :)
