Time for some FUN!

Whoa.  So that relaxed, recharged feeling I talked about last week.  Well, thank goodness I felt that way at the start of the week because this was a crazy, hectic week.  Pretty eventful here.  Let's just say that last Sunday, I had knit one of the baby socks, and that second sock there, well that was all of the knitting that happened since until late last night.

IMG_6889

Just pitiful, right?  And that cute Uncle Frank hat...pattern should be easy peasy to write-up, but that hasn't happened either.

To catch  you guys up, here are a few of the highlights from the week.....

1.  First, happy happy news for my sister!!!  She got engaged last Sunday!!

IMG_5085

Look at these two silly kids!  This is one of my fave pictures of them from last Christmas.

2.  School started this week....which means the problems, reports, school meetings, and such started rolling in at work.  I always know it is the first week of school when my email practically doubles overnight.  Fun fun.

3.  My mom had a bit of a scare this week with an emergency appendectomy surgery on Tuesday, which led to 3 days in the hospital.  She's starting to feel better now that she is home from the hospital.

4.  My sister's fiancee graduated from the police academy, which means party time!! And brownies of course!

yum

And although there has been little knitting, hopes for a sweater seemed a bit closer when these gorgeous skeins arrived this week!

IMG_6887

Hoping to turn them into a Sprossling!

Other fun mail included the Knitpicks Catalog which featured my Merrily Socks!  So cool to see them featured :)

IMG_6886

Another cool designing thing....my designer page on Deep South Fibers is looking awesome! I am so excited that they are distributing my designs to Local Yarn Stores!!

So now it is Sunday night and I'm glad to put last week to bed.  Here's to a fresh week ahead....September, one of my favorite times of year, is coming right up!  And a 3-day weekend!  It is going to be a good week.

Just to be sure though, let's have a contest AND a sale!!  Time for some FUN!!

Sale details.....I've always loved this time of year...back to school shopping (even though I'm a grown-up!), football season, autumn coming.... so what better way to celebrate than to give you guys a deal on that back-to-school knitting!!  Receive 25% off of any of my patterns available through my ravelry store between now and Monday, Sept. 5 when you enter the coupon code: backtoschool

Now for the contest fun....just leave a comment telling me what you are looking forward to, whether it be a new project, new book, end of summer vacation plans, anything.....,  on this post and one lucky winner will win a fabulous IGK tote bag filled with yarn, patterns, and goodies!!!  Leave your comment by Friday, Sept. 2 by 12pm PST.

I know I'm definitely looking forward to a week with a little less excitement, Notre Dame football next Saturday, knitting, and watching The Pioneer Woman's new Food Network show that I recorded yesterday!  Can't wait to read what you guys are looking forward to!

Happy Knitting!!
xoxo Irishgirlieknits

Congrats to your sister!
And bummer about your mom but glad she is now at home recuperating.

I can't wait to send the kids back to school next week! I love them but they need to stop driving me nuts at home and get out there, get some education and be with their friends for real instead of on Facebook and text messaging.

Looking forward to:

no hurricane this week
no earthquake this week
starting the first sweater I've made for myself in eons
reading time after a few days of frantic hurricane prep (we were lucky and didn't even lose power, but you don't know until afterward)

I'm looking forward to a big bright beautiful tomorrow - that includes knitting! I'm so looking forward to trying new things and that would include... making socks for the first time!!

I'm looking forward to a few things this fall, some knitting-related and some not.

I want to make Little Man some pumpkin to eat...you know, gut it, bake it, scoop it, mash it for his little baby mouth. And then roast the seeds. I so love roasted pumpkin seeds!

I'm looking forward to having more than 2 pairs of socks going at a time because I sprung for a 6-size set of Signature DPNs at Stitches Midwest and, because you've touted them often enough, a pair of the Kollage square needles, DPNs specificially.

I also have a bunch of yarn for projects (courtesy of Stitches Midwest)...if I could only find the time to actually do them.

I also love fall weather. It means I'll be able to get out with the puppy and Little Man and get some of this baby weight off :)

It's funny how some weeks can be so full -- at least your week was full of exciting good things as well as some stressful ah oh things. Glad your mom is on the mend.

I'm very much looking forward to a lowering of the heat and a breaking of the drought in Texas. I visited my parents there a few weeks ago and it was heart-breaking to see how dry everything is.
