I got an early jump on the weekend today by taking the day off and heading up to Reno to visit my Great-Aunt for the weekend. I did take a little detour through the Sacramento area to visit a yarn store I love, Knitique. I'd planned on stopping there even before I knew it was their anniversary sale. They have a great selection of yarns, particularly sock yarns (e.g., they carry Duet Sock Yarns and Yarntini, when they are both in stock....there actually was a skein of bright lime green yarntini I passed up too). So I treated myself to the pretty Duet Sock Yarns (the pink one is Skinny Duet and the Blue one is Middy Duet) you see below (at 15% off I should add, but the sale was based on how much you spent....very dangerous....the more you spend, the higher the percentage!!). Oh, and the other smooshy, sproingy, pretty yarn. Miss Babs Yummy fingering in Pookie.....from Woolgirl! Another little purchase I made this week (see what an unexpected summer bonus from work does!).
Also in Sacramento, I was able to visit with my friend Christy aka Hearthead (you know, the best friend who guards the pile of yarn at barn sales and such!) who was down from Portland visiting family. It was great to see her (hi honey!!). Quick hi, but I'll see her in two weeks when I head up to Portland for a nice long long weekend. Yay!!
So, as far as my weekend here in Reno, well, my great-aunt and I had a nice relaxing evening (you know, we watched Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Murder She Wrote, some Hallmark movie, I kid you not.....hehehehe....likely no gambling, but maybe dinner out tomorrow!). I have my knitting though so we have the best time just hanging out! My great-aunt and my grandma and other great-aunt (three sisters, but it is just my great-aunt now) moved to Reno from SF seven years ago, so most of my life they have been very close by and I was blessed with practically three grandmas :) So really, anytime I'm up here, it doesn't matter what we do, I always have a nice relaxing weekend and I'm so glad for the time I get to spend with my great-aunt Mimi. And she loves giving me a hard time about the yarn (you know, Jimmy Beans Wool is about 3 miles away!). I didn't quite know how to explain to her that I was going to the backyard to take pictures of my yarn, so I just said, "I'm taking pictures of yarn in the backyard." She just laughed. I love her!
Let's hope I finish my Spring Forward socks before I leave- I'm still on sock #1 with about 4 inches left to knit. This is the first month in awhile where I'm down to the wire for my Sock-A-Month KAL!! So the Lady is resting until I finish those!
Hope you all have a great weekend! If you want a chance to win some yarn, go tell Woolgirl what you are up to for the weekend. You can tell me too, of course.
Happy Weekend!
