Happy Weekend!

I got an early jump on the weekend today by taking the day off and heading up to Reno to visit my Great-Aunt for the weekend. I did take a little detour through the Sacramento area to visit a yarn store I love, Knitique. I'd planned on stopping there even before I knew it was their anniversary sale. They have a great selection of yarns, particularly sock yarns (e.g., they carry Duet Sock Yarns and Yarntini, when they are both in stock....there actually was a skein of bright lime green yarntini I passed up too). So I treated myself to the pretty Duet Sock Yarns (the pink one is Skinny Duet and the Blue one is Middy Duet) you see below (at 15% off I should add, but the sale was based on how much you spent....very dangerous....the more you spend, the higher the percentage!!). Oh, and the other smooshy, sproingy, pretty yarn. Miss Babs Yummy fingering in Pookie.....from Woolgirl! Another little purchase I made this week (see what an unexpected summer bonus from work does!).

New Socks

Also in Sacramento, I was able to visit with my friend Christy aka Hearthead (you know, the best friend who guards the pile of yarn at barn sales and such!) who was down from Portland visiting family. It was great to see her (hi honey!!). Quick hi, but I'll see her in two weeks when I head up to Portland for a nice long long weekend. Yay!!

So, as far as my weekend here in Reno, well, my great-aunt and I had a nice relaxing evening (you know, we watched Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Murder She Wrote, some Hallmark movie, I kid you not.....hehehehe....likely no gambling, but maybe dinner out tomorrow!). I have my knitting though so we have the best time just hanging out! My great-aunt and my grandma and other great-aunt (three sisters, but it is just my great-aunt now) moved to Reno from SF seven years ago, so most of my life they have been very close by and I was blessed with practically three grandmas :) So really, anytime I'm up here, it doesn't matter what we do, I always have a nice relaxing weekend and I'm so glad for the time I get to spend with my great-aunt Mimi. And she loves giving me a hard time about the yarn (you know, Jimmy Beans Wool is about 3 miles away!). I didn't quite know how to explain to her that I was going to the backyard to take pictures of my yarn, so I just said, "I'm taking pictures of yarn in the backyard." She just laughed. I love her!

Let's hope I finish my Spring Forward socks before I leave- I'm still on sock #1 with about 4 inches left to knit. This is the first month in awhile where I'm down to the wire for my Sock-A-Month KAL!! So the Lady is resting until I finish those!

Hope you all have a great weekend! If you want a chance to win some yarn, go tell Woolgirl what you are up to for the weekend. You can tell me too, of course.

Happy Weekend!

I have to say it was hard to pick just one celebrity crush (Vince Vaughn, Jesse L. Martin, McDreamy, Chris Brown (I tease Snowboarder that my new guy is quite young but he's so cute when he sings!)). And hard to pick a dream vacation. I've been to Ireland twice and can't wait to go back. Of course, I'd love to go to Italy and back to France and explore more of Europe, but if I could only pick one, it would be Ireland. Or sock camp.

WIP Wednesday: The February Edition

February Rocks!

I've been faithful to her all week and this is the only project that has my attention right now! I love it! Its moving right along now that I'm just working on the body! The Socks that Rock heavyweight in Ravenscroft is absolutely perfect for this too. I don't think I'll finish it by next week, but you never know. I'd love to finish this before I start knitting all those socks again!

Of course, Saturday kicks off Summer of Socks!

Cuteness Alert!

It was a busy week at work this past week so there wasn't too much knitting happening around here. I was able to finish these cute itty bitty baby booties! I love these "Stay on Baby Booties" from Knitting for Baby by Melanie Falick. I used some STR mill ends (color is maybe jade or mossay....I wanted something to match the cute onesie!). I love the onesie! Disco was selling them in her etsy store (and I'm hoping she will list some more soon as I have a few more babies I need to knit for!).

Sweet Baby Booties

My weekend was quite busy (more on that tomorrow too!), but the highlight was having Little Guy and his mom and dad down for a visit!! At 14 months, he sure is all over the place, the little walker!! And such a boy...he quickly grabbed one of the doggies favorite balls and had a new favorite toy!

"What?"

"Who needs toys?" and "Thank God that kid is finally sitting!" hehehe

plucky adj. Having or showing courage and spirit in trying circumstances.

Just an hour away...

Capitola

Capitola, CA

A perfect weekend escape with the girls for some drinks, knitting (squee! that scarf is all done!), blue skies, more drinks, new flip flops, and some incredible views! We also did a mini Sex in the City marathon of the last season to get us ready for the movie! Haven't seen it yet though. Did any of you (okay don't tell me what happened if you did, but was it good?!)?? Hope your weekend was fabulous too!

Oh, and for your reading enjoyment.... things that were said over the weekend, but we will not say by whom...

"That's cheatin' on Jesus!"

"I'm the mold queen."

"Why does hers say forever and mine says one-nighter."

"Eww, the old guy sex."

"Cougars!"

"I can't believe you just said Monkey KawKaw out loud in public at a restaurant!"

"Damn it! You're gonna have a souvenir."
