First Stop...Twisted!

Wow! This week has flown by! First, thank you everyone for your wonderful comments about my February Lady Sweater! I'm very behind on responding to comments because of vacation, but I really appreciate them all! Its hard to believe that it was just a week ago that I was in Portland! After spending some time playing Wii with Christy's kiddos (oh yeah, click that link...she started a BLOG!!!), our first stop was......

Twisted!

Twisted

I love this store! I know it would be my LYS if I lived in Portland! Actually, I have a feeling it just may become Christy's as she has been back already since I left! I had spent some time there on my last visit and Shannon remembered me and was super helpful!! And just plain fun!

Shopping at Twisted

The last visit they didn't carry STR though! Now they do!! I tried to resist a little bit, knowing what was in store for me later on the trip. That Mossay in my hands (I think!) may have come home with me though :)

Sock Yarn!

The wall of sock yarn!!!

socks

And it was while looking at this sock (the pretty stripey zen string one above) that Christy asked the question that made this sock knitter dance! "Do you think you could teach me how to knit socks before you leave?" Wooo-hooo!! No warning, no I'm thinking abouts, just....I want to knit socks! Honestly, I think it would be hard to resist being a sock knitter at Twisted! The yarns are just gorgeous!! Oh, and since I've left, Christy has also signed up for ravelry and started her blog!

Monkey sighting

There was also a sock monkey and sock camper sighting!! It was great to see you Karen!

This is the Zen String yarn that Christy picked out at Twisted. Here's where she was Sunday afternoon. She so wanted to make a picot edge too!

Here's where she was Tuesday before I left! Note the cute sock project bag already (she made it!)!! There were a couple of mornings where she hinted at me waking up early to help her (e.g., her and the kids were up way before me! and that was prime knitting time for her.....I believe I did show her the heel early one morning and then went back to bed...that's love!!).

STR sock

Actually, I think love is winding a skein of STR by hand and leaving your beloved knit picks needles so that she has a second project ready to go!! A gorgeous mill end that she picked from the pile!! Three skeins she picked (that's how I know she's hooked!!!)!

A few more blog posts coming from my trip! I had such a great time!! I can't wait to show you all my pics from Woolgirl too!!

Happy Knitting!

xoxo Irishgirlieknits

...so wish I could have seen you when you were here! Glad you got to Twisted, what a fun place! Did you leave any sock yarn behind?

Ummmmm....you're the only person I've ever seen wear a sweater and flip flops!

I dig that wall of sock yarn--I want to be the person that knits the one-sock only for the severed dummy feet!

Oh my, I am feeling the love. It's all about me, me, me! I do love Twisted, what a cool store! Well, I finished that first sock, I'll have to post it later today! We had so much fun, we'll have to do it again real soon! BTW, Sweaters with flip-flops are perfectly normal here in Portland. Crazy huh?!?

That Twisted store is just, erm, sock heaven. Well, close to it at least (in that BMFA is nearby!)

And so exciting that you converted Christy to socks :0)

yeah - the wall of sock yarn is quite impressive. I like Twisted but Abundant has become my LYS. Honestly though - we have several AWESOME shops here. =)

That looks like the ideal yarn store. I've always heard amazing things about it, but after seeing your photos, I'm drooling.
