A First...

a first

After 36 pairs of socks, my first toe-up sock. I loved Neuroknitter's and Tiennie's Anastasia Socks so much that I just had to cast on. I wound the yarn. Got the pattern out. All ready to go and then I realized they were toe-up (but why? I thought). I stared at the pattern for awhile, then went to find my notes on Judy's magic cast-on that I learned at camp, and well.....look at that pretty toe!

Happy almost Friday!

Nice toe! I've done a couple of toe-up socks and it's nice to know both techniques although I still prefer top down!

Yippy skippy!!! Your first toe-up sock! What a beautiful toe, and what gorgeous socks those are going to be!!!

Great job on the toe! Now that I've learned how to do heel flaps upside down, I'm appreciating toe up more :)

I've yet to do a toe-up...no pretty toe can convince me! Muhahahhahahah! ;-)

I love toe up :) Though I attempted my first to up as the Anastasia socks but with the crochet cast on the pattern calls for and after what felt like a billion tries I gave up. Then I found other ways to start toes! :)

Awesome, not a kitchener stitch in sight :0) That's pretty yarn too - you know I like the greens :0)

See, not hard! Not my favorite way to go, but to use a boss' favorite phrase, "it's got value." ;)

It's lovely! I will wait to hear what you think of the toe-up version. It seems so popular. I've tried it, but I'm not sold, yet.

Pretty pretty yarn!

Pretty!

I actually like knitting toe up, but simply because for a while I feel like I'm knitting a whole person, starting at the foot. :)

Lovely :) I still haven't learned how to do a toe-up yet.

My toe-up efforts haven't been as successful as yours. You GO girl! Looks like a nice match of yarn and pattern there, too.

I love that cast on! Way to be brave, you did a fanstatic job.

I got really excited because I thought it was the football yarn I gave you at Christmas last year, but it isn't...now I am sad

That's a beautiful toe, and the colors in the yarn are great, too.

I've made one toe-up sock. Never finished. Wanted to learn Judy's Magic Cast On, and I did. But I'm still a top-down gal. Kinda the way I run my household, too!

Wow, that looks great! Isn't the magic cast on just dreamy? When I do toe-ups (which isn't all that often), that's the one I use, too!

I won't even tell you how long the pattern has been printed, yarn has been wound in balls, and I have been planning to knit these! LOL ;op

Yours are looking good!

I love the colors in that - and for a first toe up, that's some seriously nice looking knitting! My first toe was disastrous :o

Yay! You're no longer a sock knitting toe-up virgin :) Looks great! Yarnissima next?

I knit my first sock toe up last week too! I made the bind-off too tight (and I was going for loose). Shoot. Let me know how you are binding off! :)

PS - very nice toe!
