Hi. My name is Irishgirlie...

...and its been three weeks since my last yarn purchase.

Hey now. No laughing. That's quite an accomplishment around these here parts! I think it certainly helps that I have not been to the state of Oregon in the past three weeks :)

I think it also helps that yarn and fun stuff keeps arriving in my mailbox (e.g., go check out Tapmouse's pictures of the awesome Woolgirl sock club kit that arrived in my mailbox today).

This arrived earlier this week for me! Goodies from Ireland!! Perfect for an Irishgirlie!! Yvonne from Lunasa Knits was my secret pal last year and we decided to do a swap. I can't wait for her to get her goodies too! I absolutely love all mine!!

Best part...the gorgeous sock yarn that Yvonne handdyed herself for me! Strawberry Royale! The perfectly pink color. Yvonne dyed a bunch for This is Knit, a yarn store in Dublin (oh, someday!).

Thank you Yvonne!! Did anyone notice the hobnobs in the back have already been nibbled on...one nibble and your nobbled!!! Love me some hobnobs!

Now back to that yarn diet thing.... are there any exceptions for when one of your knitty friends comes to town and your take her yarn shopping?

Happy Friday!

xoxo Irishgirlieknits

I have not purchased in one week, so that's good, right? Because I need to limit myself too, but I want to get in one more order to BMFA before the Christmas yarns go away!

Detox can be difficult, resist the urge! Pretend as though you were me going yarn shopping with you last year.... Good Luck!

I live right by Twisted in Portland, and I haven't bought yarn since...:slinks out of room:

Actually, it's been a about a month. When it's right there in front of you, it's easy to say, "I'll come back later."

Does that Yorkie Bar say what I remember them saying on the front? I have a picture of my two sons holding one up, in London. Too funny.

Can you substitute yarn books for yarn? lol. That's what I've been doing lately. That and fabric....

First rule of yarn shopping, sock yarn doesn't count.

Second rule: when a knitterly friend comes to town and wants to go shopping it would be very poor hostessing to have her shop alone. You are obligated to shop, and it won't count against your yarn diet.

Third rule: If you buy sock yarn while shopping with your friend (see First rule above) you will actually be in a negative accrual mode (kind of like burning extra calories), and will be able to get a skein of anything (i.e. not sock yarn) and not have it count against you.

Questions? You'll be tested on this later.

Happy Friday!! More importantly, happy shopping!! :)

Well I really think it's all been said by now. Of course you must take your friend shopping, and likely something WILL fall into your basket, but it can't be helped. Lovely Irish goodies. I miss my chocolate Digestives!

Yum! Barry's tea is the best! We had it every morning in Ireland when we were on vacation. A little milk and sugar... heaven!
