Slowly

...but surely the Cotty sock is coming along.

Cotty

Actually, as I write this, I'm realizing that this sock parallels the progress on my knee.  Yeap, slow going. Slowly but surely, I guess.  We'll see what my doctor says next week.  I'm still on crutches when I'm not at home or if I have to walk far.  But, I am walking lots in the pool...up to 40 minutes!

I'm hoping to have the Cotty socks done by the end of the month for the IGK KAL!  Maybe then I'll be off crutches by the end of the month too?!

Do any of you have any slow going projects?  What's on your needles?

Happy Knitting!

Got Plucky?

A few pretty souvenirs from this past weekend's fun!

IMG_5173

A girl can't resist 4-ply cashmere.

IMG_5174

Or two vibrant skeins of Primo.

IMG_5166

Or a gorgeous pink hat knit from MCN Aran, right?

You can get your own Plucky this Sunday. I shall avoid the update, despite Primo Worsted being available. Must knit up the stash from last weekend first!

IMG_5176

My new design is coming along nicely I think. It should be done by the end of the month I hop!

IMG_5177

I heart Plucky Primo.

Happy Plucky Knitting!

Priority Packing

Well, the yarn is wound.

Packing...

Yes, as always, I think I can knit 3 pairs of socks and a shawlette in 5 days.

My Bellingrath

And finish my second Bellingrath Shawlette! Thank you all SO much for the Bellingrath love! I'm so glad you all like it as much as I do :)

Bugga Bellingrath

Oh, and yes, a pair of Bellingrath Socks for me. In Bugga, colorway Nightcrawler. Yummy.

I am so excited to be attending Stitches Midwest for the first time and to be part of Kollage's design team! Plus, yesterday the Yarn Harlot finished her gorgeous Cotty socks and it has been so fun to see the hearts for Cotty on Ravelry jump up! So, I thought a sale was in order!

SweetHome.6

Sweet Home will be on sale for $4 today through Monday 8/23!

sweethome9

I really do appreciate all of you and your support you've shown me as I'm growing as a knitter and designer! I heart you guys!

I hope to blog from Stitches and have a contest while I'm gone too! Come back for details! Oh, and if you are on twitter, I'm irishgirlieknit over there if you want to follow the fun!

Now I need to go pack some clothes :)

Happy Knitting!

A perfect evening...

Well, pretty close at least.

Got my workout in for October Smackdown.

Enjoyed a yummy bowl of this.

I'm knitting a bit on my Socktoberfest Mystery Sock with the yummy Plucky Knitter MCN in Pumpkin Latte.

Happy Socktoberfest!

Its almost Friday and I've worked 11 days straight. One more day til the weekend!

Almost all the ingredients for a perfect evening.

What makes this really perfect though? This arrived today.

Thank you. Thank you. Finally!
Ally McBeal: The Complete Series

My sister and I have been waiting YEARS!! for Ally McBeal to be available on DVD (heck, I would have been happy with it on VHS!). Ally McBeal is probably one of my favorite, if not most favorite, tv shows! Truth be told, there isn't a Christmas that hasn't gone by that my sister and I haven't watch all the Ally McBeal Christmas episodes from the season with Robert Downey Jr. that we have saved on VHS (a very, very fuzzy VHS tape). Its actually in my VHS player right now (its been there probably since the last time I had a bad day and needed a pick-me-up!).

Now its a perfect evening!

Happy Almost Friday!

Saturday Night

So what are you up to tonight?

Plucky cowl

Yes, I'm in New Orleans, and should be having beignets and partying on Bourbon St. But I'm exhausted from work and staying out in the suburbs and I need to work tomorrow and Monday. However, the family I work with just dropped this Daiquiri off at my hotel room, so I'm not complaining :)

Can you guess what this is...

And I'm loving my new Plucky cowl!

And Notre Dame beat Washington 37-30 in overtime, so I'm pretty happy!

What are you up to this weekend?

Happy Saturday!

Sweet Nothings....

A bit louder than a whisper, I've been hearing these things from a certain Snowboarder for the past month....

IMG_5967
Madelinetosh Worsted, color Graphite, from Woolgirl (on sale this weekend too)

"I saw my yarn still in the basket. Does that mean you haven't started my hat yet?"

"I thought you said that hat only took you six hours or something."

"That's nice. Its not my hat, but its nice."

"Is that my hat you're working on? Oh."

Obviously, I caved. He still doesn't know it yet though.

Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday: The Gift Giving Edition

IMG_6446

I've been trying to plug away on my dad's scarf! This is his father's day scarf from June, so I figure I should finish this before Christmas?! I absolutely love it, but I'm distracted by socks and such. I'm about 1/3 of the way through this.

IMG_6442

Its a fairly easy cable pattern (more details on that in the future, I modified a stitch pattern and love it). Maybe by posting this here it'll give me a bit more motivation to get this finished. And look at that pretty sunlight in the background. It was a lovely day today, but I didn't realize it until about 4pm. I had a horrible migraine today and was in bed most of the day. But at least I was home when the sun was out to take some pictures :)

IMG_6441

I sure do like stash diving! I've been going through my stash to see what a I really need, what I have too much of, and doing a bit of destashing. I couldn't part with this pretty yarn that I purchased last year on our trip to Boston. Its Green Mountain Spinnery Mountain Mohair. I LOVE IT!! Oh, a sweater out of this would be heavenly!

And this isn't a WIP anymore! Lookie!

Thank you everyone for all the tips and suggestions on blogging topics for the next few weeks! They are all awesome (well, except for Ilikecake's suggestion of belly dancing photos...not! unless she wants me to take the pics of her...hehehehehehe...btw, we are loving our class!)! I really appreciate all the suggestions!! And our lucky winner is.....

Teen Knitter!!!

Congratulations!! I've contacted you over on ravelry to let you know that you won!! Your sock yarny goodness will be on its way to you soon! And for those who didn't win, no worries....my blogiversary is coming up...so we'll have more free yarn!!

Happy Knitting!!

xoxo Irishgirlieknits

p.s. what do you all think of the new blog layout? I'm not sure....

A First...

a first

After 36 pairs of socks, my first toe-up sock. I loved Neuroknitter's and Tiennie's Anastasia Socks so much that I just had to cast on. I wound the yarn. Got the pattern out. All ready to go and then I realized they were toe-up (but why? I thought). I stared at the pattern for awhile, then went to find my notes on Judy's magic cast-on that I learned at camp, and well.....look at that pretty toe!

Happy almost Friday!

YPF: The Mama Blue Edition

Beekeeper

The camera does not do this yarn and colorway justice. It is absolutely gorgeous and golden!
I like to blame Peaknits for this enabling. Back in July, it was post after post of gorgeous Mama Blue socks and yarn. I held out as long as I could (and by then of course, it was selling out so quickly!).

Beekeeper

Mama Blue Troika Sock yarn, colorway Beekeeper

Mama Blue Hederas

I couldn't resist casting on with this yarn right away, despite the many many socks on the needles. This is the Bramble colorway. Perfect for the Hedera pattern.

Happy Friday!!

WIP Wednesday: The Coming Clean Edition

Its time to come clean. I've probably been avoiding WIP Wednesdays because, um, the projects overfloweth! Goodness! So many, that I haven't even put some on my Ravelry projects page. And yet, I don't really see any of these making much progress during the Ravelympics except for the baby sweater below, which is quite close to being finished. Oh well. Now that I've come clean....

February Baby WIP

February Baby Sweater in Socks that Rock, mediumweight, colorway Tanzanite

yummy! and good stash knitting!

Pa's Scarf

Poor Pa's Scarf. Dad wanted a scarf for Father's Day for when he walks the dogs at night. Well, I figured I could hold out til fall for the chilly walks (of course, it actually rained a bit last night on their walk). But I did cast this on on Father's Day. And it has remained untouched ever since. Yeap, he asks about it every once in awhile. Oh, and its Rowan Plaid from the stash!

I blame Summer of Socks! I am fully embracing it!

pookie socks

Sock #1 on my Garter Rib Pookie Socks, Miss Babs Yummy fingering, colorway Pookie
The yarn is indeed Yummy! and I'm resisting more even though its on sale at Woolgirl now!

gumdrop socks

Yeap, I cast these on last week right when I got home from vacation! I just couldn't resist!! Goody Goody Gumdrops! The Rockin' Sock Club shipment for this month. Cast on, and haven't touched it since....so sad....because I want to...but the baby shower will be here sooner than I think.

Deux Aubergines

I know. Another sock. This one was cast on at the end of June for the Sock Knitters Anonymous (hehehehe, obviously I'm a member!) design your own sock challenge. I'm attempting to use the stitch from my Aubergine Scarf on the socks. Pretty, but fiddly. The pattern is much easier on size 8s as opposed to 1s. Oh well. Sock #1 too. Socks that Rock, lightweight, Eggplanted.

valkyrie

So what do I decide to do for the Ravelympics? Start another sock.

And yes, there are a few other projects on the needle. Wow. This is probably the most I've had on the needles for awhile. Oh well.

Happy Knitting!

Death to Pickle

Started: May 2007 (seriously, over a year ago)

goodbyepickle

Frogged: August 4, 2008 (rest in peace in project heaven, and may you look like this)

frogged

I feel better already. I figured the two sweaters that I have actually completed, February Lady and Wicked, were both done in under a month. This sweater was just not meant to be. I tried Turtlegirl, I tried ;) I think I'm not feeling the color anymore (yarn has already been listed to trade/destash) and the pattern...just not sure it would be flattering. I had already decided to not add the pattern across the girls, and then it would just be a green Pickle sweater...not for me.

Cropped Cardi WIP

Remember the cropped cardi for my SIL for last Christmas?? See the little stitch markers there to remind me! Well, its not on the chopping block yet, but boy was I reminded of this on vacation. So after the Olympics, we will be reviving this baby. I think this is taking forever because basically she picked the pattern, color, etc. Yeap, I love her that much! However, I think in the future I'm going to have to have a bit more say or else it will be a WIP forever :)

thraven

Blue Moon Fiber Arts Twisted, colorway Thraven

Now this is more to my liking!!! Stash yarn too baby!! My ravelympics project, for Team Blue Moon!! is going to be a second Wicked. My first one was well, my first sweater. So way too big on top and too short on the bottom. A thing called negative ease would have helped. Here goes try number two! May it be half as pretty as this one!

Happy Sweater Knitting, hopefully!!

Sea World

I couldn't resist a few more pictures from our San Diego trip! These were all taken on our last day, Wednesday, at Sea World!

Sea World

More Sea World

The Whales

Yes, I snuck in a quick sock picture at the whale show! I finished the toe of my Trickle sock!

Trickle

Sock #1, only because I got distracted by my February Sweater and then Summer of Socks! I finished the last few inches on the trip. Still loving this pattern but I don't think Sock #2 will be finished until after Ravelympics (I'm going to try to make another sweater!!).

Oh, wait. Did you all see any new yarn purchases in those pictures? Nope. Nada. We even drove past a sign in Old Town San Diego that said "Yarn" and we didn't even stop! Of course, I fell down today and joined the Sundara Seasons club (she re-opened it!). What is that saying, one step forward, two steps back?

Happy Friday!

I Was Going to Say Blue

blue

...when Neuroknitter asked what colors were in my colorbox this summer.

Tickled Pink WIP

Or at least pink.

Tomato WIP

But now. I'm sorry Pickle. There shall be no Tomato this summer (or at least the near future summer). Hmmm...maybe Turtlegirl won't read today's post.

February

Because now I'm jumping right in. Wish me luck. I'm sure to need it!

Somedays, I love my stash yarn!!!

Happy February!! oops...I mean Happy Summer!!

WIP Wednesday: The Pink Edition

Think Pink!

Its been all about the pink here lately. The Koolhaas that Rocks! is done just haven't had time for a proper photo shoot! I absolutely love it!

Cedar Creeks WIP

The first of my Cedar Creek socks is coming along nicely!

Tickled Pink WIP

And I'm still in love!

This next week will be all about little boy blue though as Auntie Irishgirlie needs to whip up some birthday presents for Little Guy! He turns 1 next week!! Eek!!

Happy Think Pink!
