To celebrate, let's have a contest!! I'll pick one winner to give lots of yarny goodness to! All you need to do is leave a comment. Any comment. You can tell me about one of your favorite blogging memories, about a favorite blog, or why you knit. You can tell me what you'd like to see more of on my blog. Or things you like about the blogs you read. Or you can tell me why you love socks that rock (hehehehehe....doesn't everyone?!). Tell me what you are knitting or what you so want to knit once the holiday knitting is complete.
I'm off to New Orleans on Wednesday for work. This will be a quick and busy trip, so I'll pick the winner Sunday when I come back. Feel free to leave a comment until Sunday, Dec. 7, at noon PST.
Thank you all for reading and sharing and being part of the fabulous knitting community that I so cherish!
Happy Blogiversary!!!
xoxo Irishgirlieknits
p.s. Those of you who remember Rowan's, aka Irishdaisy's, pink and white scarf from last year's Blogiversary. Yeah. Not done. Maybe I'll just finish it for her.

What I like best about blogs is when people post stories of their knitting--especially the parts that don't work out perfectly. It makes me feel better about not being perfect right off the bat either! :)
Happy Blogiversary!!! :) I knit because I can't NOT knit anymore, and I love knitting blogs because the people who write knitting blogs are just like me. :) I love reading your blog - your photos are great, and I love the almost never-ending parade of STR colors that show up here. :) hehe Here's to another 2 years! :)
I agree with Manda. I knit because I can't NOT knit anymore either! It's improved my patience while waiting for things like doctor's appointments, etc. I love to see what projects inspire other people, and of course, I love to see their yarn stash! :)
Happy Blogiversary!
Happy Blogiversary! :D
I like that blogs give me a glimpse into other people's lives. I especially like knowing that there are others, many thousands of others, who are crazy for yarn and knitting like I am. Blogs make me feel normal (whether that is true or not). They make me laugh when I'm having a hellacious day, and make me feel like I'm not the only one who messed up that buttonhole, or had to frog a back, or can't seem to stop buying sock yarn. To quote a magnet I purchased from cafe press: I knit so I don't kill people. It is my yoga, my meditation.
Congratulations on your blogiversary!!! I am trying to keep going w/ one after several false starts!
Hey, I picked a good day to catch up on my blogs! Happy Blogiversary. Get yourself a nice present (Although it looks like you did on Friday). As for me, I'm knitting socks for Christmas, and have at least 2 sweaters I want to knit but can't until January!
Happy Blogiversary! I knit because it gives me a sense of accomplishment. Instead of just wasting time watching TV I'm producing something as well!
Happy Blogiversary!!
Happy Blogiversary!! I love reading blogs as I've gotten to see and learn so much about knitting, life in other states and countries, and just meeting other people. Some I've met in person and some...sigh like you I hope to meet in real life one day!!
Happy Blogiversary! I always enjoy reading your blog. I love how upbeat you are, love the cute pictures of "little man", the doggies and all the lovely STR pics too. The fact that snowboarder always wants hats and even models some for you amuses me to no end. I just love how you keep it colorful and fun. As for anything else, I'm dying to knit February Lady. I love how yours turned out. Perhaps I'll make a goal to finish by February. =)
Congratulations on your second blogiversary! I just finished a contest for my first :) I love knitting because of the social aspect, and being able to wear something I made myself.
I love reading blogs (addicted, perhaps?) esp when they are well-written. That is why I love reading YOURS! I'm an English teacher. I read A LOT of bad writing! LOL! I enjoy living vicariously through others knitting joys and failures, travels, classes... I really love your hilarious comments about your love of STR. Having never used it, I want to run out and buy it NOW! Keep up the blogging and I'll keep reading!
Happy Blogiversary to one of my favoritest bloggers ever! I'm so glad I got to meet you--what a great trip that was. The Hazelknits and STR didn't hurt either, though. :)
I love knitting blogs because I have discovered so many amazing and fun things. I have found yarns that I never would have known about (STR), patterns that I never would have knit except for that someone else had the courage to use a different yarn and it made it fabulous. I've done a couple KAL's, I joined a sock club, and I found ravelry. Plus I love reading about projects, all the good, bad and ugly of them. Happy Blogiversary!
Congrats! Ah, nothing like the prospect of free stuff to bring out the lurkers. Well, my stealthy nature is what it is, but does not mean I don't really enjoy your blog. Happy knitting, happy blogging, happy anniversary.
Aw, happy blogiversary! My favorite thing about blogging is taking the time to think about what I've knit -- what I like, what I'd do differently, what I'd like to learn...
Happy Blogiversary!!
I love your blog because I like the way you write - it feels real, and conversational. Plus, you post pictures of fabulous knitted stuff and gorgeous STR. :D If you ever make it out to DC... you'd better drop me a line!
Happy blogiversary!
I'm a new reader of your blog and enjoy your exuberance and great pics.
I am amazed and grateful that at the ripe age of 40+ knitting is teaching me new things, whether it's a stitch, a pattern, or that I have a significant reserve of patience and love for the process of learning, and for myself within that process.
I've been STR shopping vicariously through. Uh.....maybe I caved because of you and bought some myself!!!
Happy Blogiversary!
I love your blog because you have really found your 'voice' and your writing sounds so real - keep it up!
I am working on a scarf for my son's teacher for Christmas. After that a vest for me, a table runner and 2 pillows are all lined up. A felted tea cozy is also calling my name.
I've been STR shopping vicariously through YOU! (You know that preview button? I should learn to use it.)
I just love that you have a snowboarder too!
Happy Happy!!
imagine that a computer could allow us to make and have friends. people we may never or seldom see but that we conisder real friends. such a cool thing (unless my kids get into it!)
i am thankful for the chance to meet you and call you a friend! now i always have somewhere to runaway to! lol. thanks irishgirlie!!!!!!!!
Congratulations! I just started reading your blog recently and I was happy to find someone who loves STR as much as I do.
Happy blogiversary! Whenever I see your blog name, I have to laugh - it's so true for me too :) I can't imagine not knitting, I think I've finally found the craft that fits me the best.
Hmm.. there are so many things I can say, but I'll make it short (as possible 8-)
--> I love the fact that I encounter wonderful people, such as yourself, who have common interests, and who I might not of met prior had I not started knitting. I found you through knowing Tapmouse, who I met at Scout's dye class at K11.
--> I love knitting, it is so therapeutic, and so rewarding, not to mention it is so useful in every aspect
--> I learn each day which exercises my brain now I need to parlay that into exercising the rest of my body*-)
Last, Happy Blogiversary!

Last, Happy Blogiversary!
Congrats on your Blogiversary! I've certainly enjoyed getting to "know" you since I found you just about a year ago. Besides good knitting and great yarn, I come for the doggies.
Happy Blogiversary! It was nice almost, sort of meeting you the other day.
Happy Blogiversary! Thanks for all the inspiration and for sharing a bit of your life with us.
Have a good trip!
Happy Blogiversary! I like reading blogs where people update often and write in a casual, friendly style. That describes your blog perfectly! Thanks!
Happy Blogiversary!
Here is to another year of beautiful projects and wonderful friendships!
Happy Blogiversary!!
I'm so glad that I met you for the first time that fateful day at Twisted! What fun!! :) :)
Happy knitting! Happy Blogging!
Safe travels!
Happy Blogiversary! I like to read your blog to see what you make with STR other than socks! Your February Lady sweater sucked me in. :-) Keep up the lovely knitting, lovely pictures, and inspiration for us all.
Thanks!
Happy blogiversary! I love the snowboarder hat that rocks which is what brought me to your blog in the first place. My sister loved it too!
Your blog has been one of my favorites since I found it just a few months ago. I love that you intoduced me to Madelintosh yarn and Woolgirl- both are new favs!
I love to see your sock yarn and your finished knits, and I have a thing for BMFA so it is really fun to see what you have stashed- love your blog's title picture!
You are just a really fun site for me and and wish I already had met you in person, but maybe someday! I'm blogless in Seattle, but thinking about starting one!
Whew! For some reason, blogger wouldn't let me leave a comment on your blog the past several posts but I got through today!
I love your blog and all the adventures you have and most of all I love your sweet nature. People love you and I can see why.
Oh and I love your BMFA collection...
Well I have to join the crowd. I enjoy your blog and others because they connect me with other people who are sort of like me, addicted to knitting. I have to admit that I am not a big sock knitter. I have extremely difficult feet that are very sensitive. But I do enjoy yours vicariously. Happy blogiversary!
happy blogiversary #2! it was most fun meeting up with you and your other sidekicks at stitches west this year.
and always fun to follow your yarn adventures.
love bloggy contests!
here's to another wonderful year!
Happy Blogiversary! Here's to another great year!
I want to tell you why your blog is on my favorites list. I really enjoy seeing your yarn purchases and the many projects that you seem to finish so fast. I love that you include pictures of yourself because you look like a very happy person who loves and values your friends. I also enjoy the positive aspect of your blog.
I like blogging because it makes me knit more productively so I have something to blog! Silly but true.
I haven't knit with STR. Yet. But when I finish Hey Teach, I'm planning to get some medium-weight and make some non-skinny yarn socks! I don't like to knit with teeny needles, but I find that I love to wear my hand-knit socks, so I need more...
Thanks for introducing me to socks-that-rock. Seriously. I now understand what STR stands for!
Happy blog day.
Happy Blogiversary!! My favorite thing about your blog is the puppies!
You know, I was just thinking yesterday that I didn't have much holiday knitting to do this year, which is really strange. I am usually working my little fingers to the bone. This year, I am only giving a few knitting things, and all but one small project are finished. I'm not sure what to do with all this free knitting time. Make something for myself?
I am so happy for your anniversay - and to read your blog. I check you most everyday to see if there is a new post. Thanks for making us smile.
Happy Bloggiversary! Your cup does indeed runneth over:) Lots of good friends, family and loved ones indeed:)
I like your blog its very creative and a fun read. Keep up the good work.
Congrats to you - two years - wowza! I just love reading all of my little bookmarked blogs and get excited to find new ones. Keep up the good work!
Happy Blogiversary!
It was great to get to meet you at Sock Camp this year, and I hope you'll be making a repeat appearance. :)
Congrats on 2 years! Thank you for keeping your blog - I love to see all the yarny goodness you 'collect' and your fab knitting. This year I got to meet some online friends when I flew from NZ to the US for the Loopy Ewe Spring Fling - fantastic fun, and the knitter's I met were even more awesome in person (how I miss them!!). You gotta love the innernets!
Happy Blogiversary!
And don't put in the drawing for you contest. Srsly!
Have a great trip to New Orleans and I hope to see you when you get back, before the holidays get crazy.
Happy Blogiversary! I knit because knitting is something that makes me stand out. At school, I would be the girl in the background but they look over and say "Hey! What are you knitting?" When I knit, I feel different. I feel that I am my own person, not quite like anyone else. Knitting gives me my identity and I don't know what I would do without it! Again, congrats on making it to two years!
Well I think I will let you know how I discovered your blog, and that was via Ms. CPurl! :o) I've been reading you for about 6 months now.
And FYI - I have never knit with STR! *gasp* Hope to one day!!
Happy Blogiversary!!!
Congratulations on 2 years of blogging. We share the same LYS and I enjoy seeing all the wonderful things you do with the lovely STR, especially the Aubergine pattern.
Diane
Happy Blogging!!
I loves reading all types of blogs. Knitting with great pics are my fav!!
Happy Blogiversary!!!! *hugs*
i never really looked twice at STR until i started reading your blog. i still have yet to try any, but i really hope to one day! i'm knitting my first pair of socks, so maybe once i get these finished i will get some STR and make something pretty. :]
Happy Blogiversary Carrie :0) And woot woot, I made the photo cut - twice!!! What a FABULOUS time I had at stitches with you. Just the best, best, best. You and Irishdaisy are AWESOME hosts. I so like your sister's sense of humour, even though she STILL hasn't finished that scarf. Make her do it - it'll only take an hour!!!
Thanks for being a super-blogger this year and sharing all your yarny goodness with us. This trip I've either been knitting acrylic hats for my boys (brrr, it was cold up there), or STR hats for a craft show I'm doing tomorrow. LOVE the STR squishyness. Here's hoping I sell something so I can buy more yarn for my blanky.... :0)
I love living vicariously with you when you go to Blue Moon or meet the Harlot. I never quite seem to get to go to those things. So it's fun to get to see it through your eyes.
Wow, what a comment day for you! I love seeing all of your finished objects. It inspires me! And of course your love for the one and only BMFA! :)
Thank YOU, for blogging, Irish Girlie! And it is just about a year since I first met you in person! So Happy Anniversary for that, too! ;)
Love ya always!
Me
happy blog birthday! I looked back over the posts I've saved from your blog in my reader and realized all the posts have something in common: photos of a project in STR - you really do love it (and I understand completely)!
I have seen your wonderful smiling face in Rav and now find you from a Woolgirl link! Lucky me C:
Happy Blogiversary!!! Holy Mackeral...they come out in droves for the contests don't they...LOL
I love your collage of pics. Nicely done!
You already know- I started reading your blog because us Irish-girlies need to stick together ( and you knit fantastic stuff of course)
I enjoy reading the other knit blogs...makes me feel more normal. I have no knitting friends locally, so I only have the other bloggers to visit online. I especially enjoy Stephanie Pearl McPhee's humor (humour if CA? LOL) and look forward to her mishaps and adventures.
Happy Blogiversary!! I absolutely love your blog. I'm finishing up a pair of socks for my mom and then I'm done with Christmas knitting. Yea!!!
I lover your blog, it is so nice to know there are others like me out there. Happy Blogiversary! keep up the good work.
delurking here
No entry from me. Just wanted to wish you a very happy blogiversary!!
I love reading blogs, not just for the knitting, which is great, but to hear stories of people's lives, their ideas, hopes, etc. It's a chance to get to know people and find out about different things.
Happy Blogiversary!
When I found your blog, I was thinking, "OMG! I have found another person who is as crazy about STR as I am. OMG! I want all her yarn!!" Then, I learned that you don't work. You just knit and travel.
I so enjoy reading your blogs for the travel stories, the finished and unfinished objects, and of course, your stash! Keep up the good work!
I enjoy your blog because you seem to enjoy life and knitting. Your patterns are fun and look great and,it's all your fault (along with Neuroknitter) that I have bought and continue to buy STR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I love to own them, knit with them, covet them, but may not live long enough to use them up!!!!Oh Well!!!!
Many thanks for caring to blog!
Happy Blogiversary! I love reading your blog because it always puts a smile on my face. I also want to thank you for blogging about Purlescence. I live in southern cal and made my family drive me an hour to Sunnyvale (from San Ramon)when I was last up north to visit and it made me so happy. I will definitely be going back. Thanks!
I so enjoy reading craft blogs, but especially ones about knitting. There is something solid about knitters and it seems to extend world wide. Reading in one moment someone's blog in the UK, then the Arctic circle, Finnland, the USA, they are for the most part heart warming. I learn from these incredible knitter who share wonder words of advice, photos of incredible knits that motivate you to keep on improving your craft. I wouldn't change a thing about your blog. Variety is the spice of life and each blog is special in its own way.
Happy Blog-o-versary ! Love your blog and knits~
Happy Blogversary.
I love knitting, cooking a blogging. Reading blogs inspires me to be more productive, try new and different things (both in the knitting and cooking arenas) and it helps to give me perspective about my projects and the projects that I want to try!
Keep up the great work! Your blog is among my favorites!
You are so awesome! Happy Blogiversary and have a great trip! Have a beignet for me.
(you know not to put my name in the hat, right?)
Happy blogaversary! The reason I knit: because I have to, and because I can. It keeps me sane.
Happy Blogiversary! I love blogs and knitting blogs in particular since they make me feel connected and inspired by other crafty, creative women.
I love reading yor blog because I love seeing your STR yarn and the things you make with it. I love STR too. Happy Blogiversary.
Congrats on reaching the 2 year mark.I love reading about your adventures in yarny fun. Here's to many more years!
Happy Blogiversary :) I enjoy reading knitting blogs for inspiration-yours has been wonderful-It encouraged me to knit the Trickle socks. Besides all the beautiful STR, I love seeing all your FOs!-including your February Lady sweater & Snowboarder's hat-they are all beautiful
Happy Blogiversary! I love your blog -- I had no idea that there was that much STR loveliness out in the world until I stumbled across your blog!
Happy Blogiversary. I just wanted to say I love reading your blog and getting project and yarn inspiration! Thanks!
Jennifer
Happy Blogiversary! Thanks for stopping by mine and commenting on my (your) hat. It was dead easy to do, and the cables were really intuitive. Love it! Now I just have to do a little braided embellishment. I will try to post a pic of Nephew in the hat after the holidays.
Woo hoo, happy blogiversary!
I was an LJer for years before I caved in and started using the Blogger account I set up over 2 years ago. I am not after an audience but I want a place where I can talk about my still newly-found passion for knitting. So Blogger for knitting, LJ for fangirling. Nice fit eh? I have always been fascinated by knitting but never picked it up until a year ago, and as they say, the rest is history. And so is free closet space, extra cash and free time at home. My stash has overtaken my children's bedroom, but in a good way. I yearn to be a very good knitter in that I finish projects and do them without trying to cover up the mistakes I made hoping my recipient does not notice. I also wish there is an LYS where I am so I can talk shop with fellow knitters. Ravelry and the blogging world is heaven-sent. I just started watching your blog today and looking forward to more enjoyable posts. Your FLS is what brought me here, I'm knitting my first one with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran and hope to be good at it until my STRs arrive. Oh and your FLS buttons are made of awesome!
I love it when they go on adventures and colorful projects that are clectic.Iam knitting a wine tote both hubby and I are.I want to work on my lizard ridge when done with Christmas and charity knitting.I have one precious skein of STR.Happy Blogaversary:)Huggers Darcy
I love to knit because it helps me focus and think. I love to knit because I can't stop myself. There's just something soothing about having yarn slip through your fingers, especially on a bad day.
Thank you for blogging! Your entries are always nice to read. Being a fan of STR as well, I love seeing what you do with it. =)
Happy blogiversary to you!
I love reading knitting blogs - it gives so much inspiration to me. when I see how busy other people are in their lives and they can get knitting accomplished, I think, hey so can I!
A very happy blogiversary to you!
I really enjoy reading your blog - it's fun & inspirationaI! I also looove STR, but I didn't know about Woolgirl before reading your blog, so you've introduced me to another fabulous haven of yarn-y goodness. My stash and I thank you, but my bank account would rather not talk about it!
I love to knit, and to think about what I'd like to knit someday soon. The potential and possibility is exciting! This explains a lot about my stash. :)
Here's to many more years of knitting & blogging! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, projects, and gorgeous yarn!
Wowsers. I don't think I've ever seen so many comments to one blog!
Knitting is an art. Period. Whether its for a hat or a pair of baby booties or the SUV cover like that woman from Canadia knitted and subsequently got stopped at the border because she had sketches of SUVs... every piece we do is an art in and of itself!
Happy Blogiversary!
Oh, let's pick a few - I love your blog for many reasons, but what strikes me most is how much happiness and joy you have! You have such a fun, generous, positive spirit and it just shines through in every post. :)
I love to knit because it satisfies both my crafty and anal sides.;) It's soothing, inspiring, exciting, and Zen all rolled up into one. Plus, you get a finished product that you can wear or use when you're done!
And I love STR because oh, the squoosh. The wanna-start-knitting-with-it-while-you're-winding-it squoosh!
Happy blogiversary Carrie! I love all of your great projects and photographs both knitting and non-knitting related. :) Here's to many more years of sharing your blog with us!
Hope you're having fun in New Orleans & Happy Blogiversary!! Don't put me in your contest draw, though :)
I totally ordered some STR this morning - and I blame you. I'm considering the club, too, since I didn't re-up with Woolgirl :)
Happy Blogiversary!!! It's been so nice getting to know knitting friends through blogging. I love seeing what others are working on and what inspires them. I get inspired by so many others (including your blog *smile*). Knit and blog on!
