My Cup Runneth Over....

Today I am celebrating my 2 year Blogiversary!! And all I can think of is how many blessings this blog has brought me. Particularly, you. My friends. This past year I had the chance to meet so many of you, to get to know some of you better, and some who will always have a very special place in my heart. Thank you.

Friends

To celebrate, let's have a contest!! I'll pick one winner to give lots of yarny goodness to! All you need to do is leave a comment. Any comment. You can tell me about one of your favorite blogging memories, about a favorite blog, or why you knit. You can tell me what you'd like to see more of on my blog. Or things you like about the blogs you read. Or you can tell me why you love socks that rock (hehehehehe....doesn't everyone?!). Tell me what you are knitting or what you so want to knit once the holiday knitting is complete.

I'm off to New Orleans on Wednesday for work. This will be a quick and busy trip, so I'll pick the winner Sunday when I come back. Feel free to leave a comment until Sunday, Dec. 7, at noon PST.

Thank you all for reading and sharing and being part of the fabulous knitting community that I so cherish!

Happy Blogiversary!!!

xoxo Irishgirlieknits

p.s. Those of you who remember Rowan's, aka Irishdaisy's, pink and white scarf from last year's Blogiversary. Yeah. Not done. Maybe I'll just finish it for her.

What I like best about blogs is when people post stories of their knitting--especially the parts that don't work out perfectly. It makes me feel better about not being perfect right off the bat either! :)

Happy Blogiversary!!! :) I knit because I can't NOT knit anymore, and I love knitting blogs because the people who write knitting blogs are just like me. :) I love reading your blog - your photos are great, and I love the almost never-ending parade of STR colors that show up here. :) hehe Here's to another 2 years! :)

I agree with Manda. I knit because I can't NOT knit anymore either! It's improved my patience while waiting for things like doctor's appointments, etc. I love to see what projects inspire other people, and of course, I love to see their yarn stash! :)
Happy Blogiversary!

I like that blogs give me a glimpse into other people's lives. I especially like knowing that there are others, many thousands of others, who are crazy for yarn and knitting like I am. Blogs make me feel normal (whether that is true or not). They make me laugh when I'm having a hellacious day, and make me feel like I'm not the only one who messed up that buttonhole, or had to frog a back, or can't seem to stop buying sock yarn. To quote a magnet I purchased from cafe press: I knit so I don't kill people. It is my yoga, my meditation.

Congratulations on your blogiversary!!! I am trying to keep going w/ one after several false starts!

Hey, I picked a good day to catch up on my blogs! Happy Blogiversary. Get yourself a nice present (Although it looks like you did on Friday). As for me, I'm knitting socks for Christmas, and have at least 2 sweaters I want to knit but can't until January!

Happy Blogiversary! I knit because it gives me a sense of accomplishment. Instead of just wasting time watching TV I'm producing something as well!

Happy Blogiversary!! I love reading blogs as I've gotten to see and learn so much about knitting, life in other states and countries, and just meeting other people. Some I've met in person and some...sigh like you I hope to meet in real life one day!!

Happy Blogiversary! I always enjoy reading your blog. I love how upbeat you are, love the cute pictures of "little man", the doggies and all the lovely STR pics too. The fact that snowboarder always wants hats and even models some for you amuses me to no end. I just love how you keep it colorful and fun. As for anything else, I'm dying to knit February Lady. I love how yours turned out. Perhaps I'll make a goal to finish by February. =)

Congratulations on your second blogiversary! I just finished a contest for my first :) I love knitting because of the social aspect, and being able to wear something I made myself.

I love reading blogs (addicted, perhaps?) esp when they are well-written. That is why I love reading YOURS! I'm an English teacher. I read A LOT of bad writing! LOL! I enjoy living vicariously through others knitting joys and failures, travels, classes... I really love your hilarious comments about your love of STR. Having never used it, I want to run out and buy it NOW! Keep up the blogging and I'll keep reading!

Happy Blogiversary to one of my favoritest bloggers ever! I'm so glad I got to meet you--what a great trip that was. The Hazelknits and STR didn't hurt either, though. :)

I love knitting blogs because I have discovered so many amazing and fun things. I have found yarns that I never would have known about (STR), patterns that I never would have knit except for that someone else had the courage to use a different yarn and it made it fabulous. I've done a couple KAL's, I joined a sock club, and I found ravelry. Plus I love reading about projects, all the good, bad and ugly of them. Happy Blogiversary!

Congrats! Ah, nothing like the prospect of free stuff to bring out the lurkers. Well, my stealthy nature is what it is, but does not mean I don't really enjoy your blog. Happy knitting, happy blogging, happy anniversary.

Aw, happy blogiversary! My favorite thing about blogging is taking the time to think about what I've knit -- what I like, what I'd do differently, what I'd like to learn...

I'm a new reader of your blog and enjoy your exuberance and great pics.

I am amazed and grateful that at the ripe age of 40+ knitting is teaching me new things, whether it's a stitch, a pattern, or that I have a significant reserve of patience and love for the process of learning, and for myself within that process.

I've been STR shopping vicariously through. Uh.....maybe I caved because of you and bought some myself!!!

I love your blog because you have really found your 'voice' and your writing sounds so real - keep it up!

I am working on a scarf for my son's teacher for Christmas. After that a vest for me, a table runner and 2 pillows are all lined up. A felted tea cozy is also calling my name.

Your blog has been one of my favorites since I found it just a few months ago. I love that you intoduced me to Madelintosh yarn and Woolgirl- both are new favs!
I love to see your sock yarn and your finished knits, and I have a thing for BMFA so it is really fun to see what you have stashed- love your blog's title picture!
You are just a really fun site for me and and wish I already had met you in person, but maybe someday! I'm blogless in Seattle, but thinking about starting one!

Whew! For some reason, blogger wouldn't let me leave a comment on your blog the past several posts but I got through today!

I love your blog and all the adventures you have and most of all I love your sweet nature. People love you and I can see why.
Oh and I love your BMFA collection...

Well I have to join the crowd. I enjoy your blog and others because they connect me with other people who are sort of like me, addicted to knitting. I have to admit that I am not a big sock knitter. I have extremely difficult feet that are very sensitive. But I do enjoy yours vicariously. Happy blogiversary!

I like blogging because it makes me knit more productively so I have something to blog! Silly but true.

I haven't knit with STR. Yet. But when I finish Hey Teach, I'm planning to get some medium-weight and make some non-skinny yarn socks! I don't like to knit with teeny needles, but I find that I love to wear my hand-knit socks, so I need more...

Thanks for introducing me to socks-that-rock. Seriously. I now understand what STR stands for!

Happy blog day.

Happy Blogiversary!! My favorite thing about your blog is the puppies!

You know, I was just thinking yesterday that I didn't have much holiday knitting to do this year, which is really strange. I am usually working my little fingers to the bone. This year, I am only giving a few knitting things, and all but one small project are finished. I'm not sure what to do with all this free knitting time. Make something for myself?

Congrats on 2 years! Thank you for keeping your blog - I love to see all the yarny goodness you 'collect' and your fab knitting. This year I got to meet some online friends when I flew from NZ to the US for the Loopy Ewe Spring Fling - fantastic fun, and the knitter's I met were even more awesome in person (how I miss them!!). You gotta love the innernets!

Happy Blogiversary! I knit because knitting is something that makes me stand out. At school, I would be the girl in the background but they look over and say "Hey! What are you knitting?" When I knit, I feel different. I feel that I am my own person, not quite like anyone else. Knitting gives me my identity and I don't know what I would do without it! Again, congrats on making it to two years!

Happy Blogiversary Carrie :0) And woot woot, I made the photo cut - twice!!! What a FABULOUS time I had at stitches with you. Just the best, best, best. You and Irishdaisy are AWESOME hosts. I so like your sister's sense of humour, even though she STILL hasn't finished that scarf. Make her do it - it'll only take an hour!!!

Thanks for being a super-blogger this year and sharing all your yarny goodness with us. This trip I've either been knitting acrylic hats for my boys (brrr, it was cold up there), or STR hats for a craft show I'm doing tomorrow. LOVE the STR squishyness. Here's hoping I sell something so I can buy more yarn for my blanky.... :0)

Knitting used to feel like a very solitary (but enjoyable) thing until I discovered blogs. Now, whenever I pick up my yarn and needles, I feel a connection to so many people, most of whom I've never met!

I love reading your stories, seeing your WIPs, envying your stash, all the things that make knitting feel like a community to me.

Thanks!

I so enjoy reading craft blogs, but especially ones about knitting. There is something solid about knitters and it seems to extend world wide. Reading in one moment someone's blog in the UK, then the Arctic circle, Finnland, the USA, they are for the most part heart warming. I learn from these incredible knitter who share wonder words of advice, photos of incredible knits that motivate you to keep on improving your craft. I wouldn't change a thing about your blog. Variety is the spice of life and each blog is special in its own way.

I was an LJer for years before I caved in and started using the Blogger account I set up over 2 years ago. I am not after an audience but I want a place where I can talk about my still newly-found passion for knitting. So Blogger for knitting, LJ for fangirling. Nice fit eh? I have always been fascinated by knitting but never picked it up until a year ago, and as they say, the rest is history. And so is free closet space, extra cash and free time at home. My stash has overtaken my children's bedroom, but in a good way. I yearn to be a very good knitter in that I finish projects and do them without trying to cover up the mistakes I made hoping my recipient does not notice. I also wish there is an LYS where I am so I can talk shop with fellow knitters. Ravelry and the blogging world is heaven-sent. I just started watching your blog today and looking forward to more enjoyable posts. Your FLS is what brought me here, I'm knitting my first one with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran and hope to be good at it until my STRs arrive. Oh and your FLS buttons are made of awesome!

Knitting is an art. Period. Whether its for a hat or a pair of baby booties or the SUV cover like that woman from Canadia knitted and subsequently got stopped at the border because she had sketches of SUVs... every piece we do is an art in and of itself!

I love to knit because it satisfies both my crafty and anal sides.;) It's soothing, inspiring, exciting, and Zen all rolled up into one. Plus, you get a finished product that you can wear or use when you're done!

And I love STR because oh, the squoosh. The wanna-start-knitting-with-it-while-you're-winding-it squoosh!
