4 Years!!

Happy Blogiversary to us!

Yes, I said us.
As in we.
Even though really,
for the most part,
it has been just me.
But four years ago
it started out as we.
She got shy,
I kept blabbing.
I mean blogging.

But we are still we.

And last Friday we reunited at A Verb for Keeping Warm for a bit of fun!

You see, Pashyknits already had a drop spindle AND belonged to a fiber club AND had a gift certificate for spinning knits, but still had not learned. Until I told her I was officially sucked in, and she immediately forced me to show her how to use a drop spindle (she learned, despite my poor teaching!).

She loves it! And I still love her, even though she fell off the face of the blog circa June 2007. Oh, but her stash has grown and her knitting has been prolific!

This was my purchase. Cookie's new book, Knit. Sock. Love., is just gorgeous! I couldn't resist.

And it wouldn't be a blogiversary celebration without a little giveaway, would it!?!? Thank you all so much for reading and being here and being part of this wonderful knitting community that I couldn't imagine my life without! So, I'm doing a pattern giveaway a day for the next week! Not sure I'll be able to blog daily (you never know!), but if I miss a day, the next post will have two patterns to giveaway!!

Today's giveaway, Cotty, my very first sock pattern. Who knew it would be #74 on Ravelry's most popular sock patterns (yeah, I'm geeky like that! it is so super exciting to me!!)! I'll be giving away 4 copies to celebrate our 4 years of blogging! If you have Cotty and win, you can gift it to someone else or pick a different pattern from my Raverly shop!

Just leave a comment telling me what project you are working on right now and/or if you are deluded like me and think you can finish all of your holiday knitting and get sleep at the same time!! And be sure to leave a way for me to contact you if you win!

Happy Blogiversary!! Love ya!

xoxo Irishgirlieknits (and Pashyknits too!)

Super cute pattern, thanks for the chance to win! I'm working on a couple of intarsia panels for the bottom of a scarf and I hope to finish up a pair of socks. I had more on my original holiday knitting gift list but I had to give some projects up in favor of sanity :)

I'm knitting a little bag out of handspun yarn to hold some knitting tarot cards. A little something for myself! I've made two hats and half a set of cuffs. Oh and a couple of hats for the kids and myself. Wow, I've been busy!

Hi - I have so much fun reading your blog! I am working on Christmas knitting... 4 pairs of socks, 2 cowls, a scarf and a hat. I still think I'm going to finish by Christmas, my husband chooses to not answer that question. Happy knitting!

I have often wondered who else does not have a knitting problem. i just assumed it was you, Puddles and Bailey. :) Four years - well done! It's always a delight reading your adventures and of course this is where I get firsthand news about your latest designs. Oh and your cooking adventures are always good too! x

What I should be working on is a fancy cotton cloth for my daughters teacher but I have just found a stash of plain cloths that I knitted up ages ago so I am giving the teacher one of those and going to bed instead!

Working on coffee cup holders (from More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts) for my Prayer Group gals, and the stealth project of the Alpine Topper for Hubby. I CAN finish this week!

Yay, happy blogiversary!

I'm working on 2 small shawls, a couple of hats, a cowl, a scarf, and a pair of mitts. Somehow I think I can finish all of these before Christmas... I'll be busy.

I'm dreaming about knitting socks, though. I miss knitting socks, and I'm much too selfish to give them away as gifts, so I must wait!

Sleep? People sleep in December? Who knew?

I just have one pair of mittens to finish -- perfectly plain, but Noro Kureyon makes them look anything but. Then there's a January birthday and a February birthday. . .

Hi! I'm working on a monkey hat for Matthew. He put 'new winter hat' on his santa list, so it had to be done :0) 4 Years! Things come and go, but once you're in this knitting lark, you're in it for the long haul, no escape :0)
Don't put me in your prize list - I have all your patterns :0)

Happy 4 years! I'm knitting washcloths for gifts right now because that is all my brain can handle. I did finish all my more challenging gift knitting so it feels good now to be mindless.

Happy Blogiversary! I always love it when your smiling face shows up on my Ravelry blog roll. :)

I'm making a pair of socks for my nephew and a hat for my brother this year and if that goes well I really need to finish a hat I started eons ago for my husband!

My planned Christmas knitting is done! Now I think I'm going to try to whip up a new pair of Xmas socks for me and get back to my FLS.

You'll love Knit Sock Love. I've had my copy for a few weeks and just can't decide where to start. So many pretty patterns!

Congrats! I really enjoy reading your blog. Right now I'm knitting a pair of socks as a surprise for my husband for Christmas, but I'm starting to doubt that they'll be done in time. It's hard to find knitting time when he's not around so I can work on them!

I'm working on ChicKnits' Cassidy, even though I'm 4.5 months pregnant and probably won't even fit in it when I'm finished. ;)

I'm working on a Daybreak, but I'm getting close to the end and today may be the day I succumb to my Castonitis and start something new!

Happy Anniversary!! I'm working on a pair of Tessarae socks - a gift for son #2. Next in the queue is a hat for Son #3's girlfriend. And then there is . . . .

You mean I'm not going to get it all done???

I am working on a simple lace scarf for my MIL in worsted weight yarn...I have ripped out way too many times and am not even halfway done. It should have gone by quick since it only requires 200 yards.

I'm still hoping to get 3 baby blankets done in time. Happy Blogiversary!

Happy blogiversary! Four years is quite an accomplishment. I've been wanting to buy Cookie A's new book. I'm glad you've been bitten by the handspun bug; I haven't given in yet, but it's only a matter of time!

Happy, happy! I love Cotty, but I'm still grinding away at the vet's infinity scarf in Gmarie's sweet little pattern, and I'm hoping to finish at least THREE garter stitch scarves in Universal's Spice Berry.

Happy Blogiversary to you!

After vowing to no holiday knitting this year, I just cast on for pair of Susie's Reading Mitts for a gift for family. But they're a quick knit ... at least, will be once I get the gauge right! (SarahJS on Ravelry)

Happy Anniversary Carrie!!!
I am not surprised that you sock Cotty is #74. I love that pattern. I am still waiting for my birthday in March because I will be able to buy Slip Jig. I bet Slip Jig moves up to Cotty or passes it.
Your patterns are beautiful, easy to knit which makes knitting a joy.
I wear my Winnie Socks only when I am going out somewhere special. I love them so much.
Go celebrate and happy knitting! Hugs

Happy, happy blogiversary! Wow...I think I met you at just this time on your FIRST blogiversary. Time flies. Not technically holiday kitting, but trying to finish a bunch of fingerless mitts in time to mail, all the same. Sleep? Who needs sleep?

I'm feverishly knitting socks, plus several other Christmas gifts. Will I be done in time?! We'll see. Congratulations on your 4-year anniversary. I think I found your blog when I first joined Woolgirl's sock club. You've done some amazing things since then! :)

I am holiday knitting as well, but have chosen very small project that make me feel like I have tons of momentum. Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

Happy Blogiversary. I really enjoy reading your blog and seing all your cool projects. I finished a pair of socks last night and am going to start a hat today,I would like to do a couple of scarves-small ones. Waking up with numb hands is not cool though!!

Congratulations on 4 years! Love your blog!
I am working on the Point the Way scarf. I love it. Can't wait to wear it!

Of course I'll be able to finish all my Christmas knitting. I only have a scarf left, and a pair of socks, and a half finished afghan, and a sweater. It'll be fine... right?

andrea said...

Really love the pattern.
On Nov 15 I had a surprise double mastectomy. After all the years of shaking my head at members of the "Giving the Christmas Gift Still OTN's" Club", I will be joining in this year with an Alligator Scarf, a knit hat with ear flaps, a shawl, and three scarves....still OTN's. Guess that will teach me to shake my head in amazement at others! My apologigies y'all! (Head hanging in guilt!)

I am finishing up a seed stitch scarf in silk str, and I think (hope) I will be done in plenty of time. I am also working on a couple of other pairs of socks, one from the RSC and one other, both for me.
I was "introduced" to you by the Slip Jig pattern, which I have made twice so far, and each one is nicer than the last. Agree that it will be very popular, once it's available outside the RSC. Happy "blogiversary"!

I'm knitting the Scylla socks, but would love to win a Cotty pattern. Happy blogiversary!

Congrats on Four Years of blogging fun! Right now I am TRYING to finish up a QUEEN size afghan for my Mother, that I thought I could just "whip up." Yeah, right! (I shamefully admit I started it in August). I do think I am in the final stretch. I have 10 days to go before my deadline of 12/23. I am managing 8-10 rows a day (360 stitches) and my hands are tired.
Thanks for the bloggy anniversary give-away.

Congrats on four years!

Christmas knitting...just a few little hats for niece & nephews. After that, it'll be back to work, hopefully on something for ME. I've been cranking out the charity items this year, and I'm feeling neglected.

I'm working on Maia by Rosemary Hill, Angee socks by Cookie A, and the Selbu Modern hat.

I'm sure I'll finish my holiday knitting especially since I don't do holiday knitting. ;)

I'm hoping for a Cotty pattern!

I'm working on the first sock for my husband, two shawls, a baby bib which should be done soon, and I want to start a sock for myself and a cowl pattern. There's no way unless I snowed into my place for DAYS that this will all be done by Christmas, and I've accepted that.

Unknown said...

Congratulations! Love your blog - so optimistic, positive and fun!

Happy Blogiversary! I'm glad Cotty is so popular; it's one of my favorite plain-ish patterns (I've knitted 3 pair already and I know there will be more!).

Right now I'm working on a Westward hat to match the Urbana scarf I finished for my husband - smooshy Malabrigo Twist is so nice to knit with.

I actually am not deluded! I think I will finish in time! I've just got about 3 inches on a sock (yay for small feet) one repeat on a hat, and one fingerless mitt!
AND I have all next week off from work.

I'm working on a sock yarn blanket - yep, I'm crazy! I've knitted Cotty already - will probably knit another one or more in the future, but if you pick my name, I would like any of your other sock patterns. You can pick - but first, you have to pick my name! Happy Anniversary!

Congratulations on your blog anniversary! I love seeing all of your lovely projects and all of your great designs. The Sweet Baby Kate hat and socks and my pair of Cotty socks were really fun to knit. Here's to many more years of blogging!
